Vinovan was founded in 1964 with the aim of bringing people together for the making of wine and beer at home. The club membership averages about 30, and ranges from founding members to novice winemakers. There is always something to learn at our meetings, which combine education, friendships and business.

The Club meetings take place on the fourth Wednesday of every month at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1110 Gladwin, North Vancouver. Club members come with a bottle of their wine, and after a brief business meeting, enjoy some socializing and an educational presentation. Topics range from basic winemaking, to the latest test instruments to determine specifications. Members often bring award winning wines, or even problem wines, for discussion with other members.

A major event each year is our "Club Crush", where the club chooses a variety of grape, members place their order, participate in a group "crush" and share different wine making methods, comparing the end result. Members have the option of entering their wine in the Club Competition.

Vinovan members enjoy several social events each year, the first of which is a club barbeque held in June, followed by the Club members preparing a gourmet dinner celebrating the "marriage of wine and food". November is our annual competition and dinner dance, honouring winemakers from the local clubs (be sure to enter your wine and have it compared to some of the best winemakers in B.C. )  The final event of the year is our combination AGM and Christmas potluck dinner (good food and good fun).

The Club has many resources for the amateur wine maker, including a library, education programs, speakers, videos, seminars, support from experts, a crusher/de-stemmer, wine press, corker and chromatography kit. The Vinovan Wine Club has access to Okanagan grape growers, and each year members can order grapes through our very knowledgeable grape buyer.

Club dues also include a membership in the BC Amateur Winemakers Association, subscription to the "Grapevine" Newsletter, and a 15% discount at Spagnol's wine making supplies.
